The Roman's Road
Have you taken a trip down The Roman's Road? Do you know where you would go if you die today? Let me tell you the road I took and where I will be going if I died today. After you go down this road, please send me an e-mail and let me know what your decision was!
We are traveling down a great road, one which lead us to a path to the greatest gift we can ever receive. We come upon the first sign:
Romans 3:10- "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one"
This is a common phrase everyone uses today, "Nobody is perfect". They are right, no one is perfect. It has been written in many instances in the Bible.
Just behind that sign, we find another:
Romans 3:23 - "For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God"
The key word here is ALL. Everyone of us are sinners; you, me, famous athletes, famous actors and actresses. We have to not so great things and we do not compare to what God has done. We were not made to sin, but we were made to know God and receive His love from Him.
Short ways down the road, we come up to another sign:
Romans 6:23 - "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."
All sin is punishable by death. God's intention for His creation was to live forever, just like he has lived. However, because of our sinning, the just reward we receive is death. However, God has provided a gift to us through His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus came to Earth to live as a human, being tempted, ridiculed, tortured and crucified on a cross; having his blood shed on Calvary to pay for our sins. It was prophesied in the Old Testament and in the New Testament that Jesus would die, be buried, and resurrect 3 days later to provide the gift of salvation to us sinners.
A few yards further down the road, the next sign reads:
Romans 5:9 - "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us"
God does not like sinners, but He loves His people. Because of the great and unconditional love, he sent Jesus Christ to die in our place for our sins for us to receive the great give of salvation.
To give you some time to think about what we have encountered, we travel down the road a little ways. We approach one more sign:
Romans 10:9,13 - "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved" AND "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved"
After taking this path into consideration, you truly believe in your heart that Jesus Christ was sent by God to teach us how to live; be captured, tortured, and crucified on a cross; be buried and resurrected from the dead; and you confess with your mouth that Jesus is the Lord of Lords, thou shall be saved from your sins and you will receive the eternal glory of Heaven upon your death, or upon the return of the Lord to Earth.
Straight ahead from this sign, you see a fork in the road, with two roads going different directions. In the middle is the last sign:
How about you? Have you put your trust and faith in Jesus Christ?
If you answer no, you start down the "No" road and continue to live as you have been. I am sorry you selected this road and pray that you would consider returning to travel down The Roman's Road once again.
If you answer yes, you start down the "Yes" road and pray the following prayer. "Dear God, I know that I have sinned against you and am deserving of punishment. But Jesus Christ took the punishment that I deserve so that through faith in Him I could be forgiven. With your help, I place my trust in You for salvation. Thank You for Your wonderful grace and forgiveness - the gift of eternal life! Amen!" After this prayer, you continue down this road with faith and encouragement that Jesus Christ is your Lord and Savior and that you will reign with him in Heaven some day.
